Transportation
Adults with developmental disabilities can get transportation services to become more active in the community. They can choose how much of their DD funding they want to use for transportation and decide how many trips they need.
People can get transportation to and from their house to community activities and to their job if they have one. The important thing to remember is the trips they get must be part of their Person-Centered Plan (PCP) goals.
There are three ways people can get transportation services:
- They can pay their agency for transportation they provide.
- They can use their funds to pay for trips on the RIde Program (RIPTA).
- They can use the self-direct option for transportation, even if they use an agency for most services. Through self-direction, they can pay for trips on Uber, Lyft or taxi service or to pay someone they know to drive them.
